Things you can do with your dog in the surrounding area

Girona’s Costa Brava is a paradise to enjoy with your pet. Not only because it has some of the best dog-friendly beaches in Spain, but also because there are many restaurants and landmarks to visit that are 100% pet friendly. Here are a few recommendations:

  • Dog beaches: La Rubina Dog Beach, one of the first dog beaches in Spain and a favourite with dog owners in Girona. Rec del Molí, with fine golden sand, is located in a natural setting of dunes and pine forests, just a five-minute walk from the ruins of L’Empúries.
  • Pet-friendly restaurants: You can visit Sodemar restaurant or Sushi Wok. Dogs are always welcome and you will be invited to eat inside with your pet.
  • Places to visit: Don’t miss the archaeological site of L’Empúries, which welcomes visitors with well-behaved dogs. Or the vast grounds of the Ciutadella de Roses, a must-see in Roses if you want to learn about local history alongside your pet. There is an archaeological site with a signposted itinerary that gives an idea of the different civilisations that have occupied the area through the ruins that can still be seen today. There is also a historical museum with archaeological remains and very interesting photographs.
